At any rate, the staff at ARES over the last several years have done an amazing job in educating and providing a warm, friendly and loving environment that is in some cases the only place certain children get that kind of treatment.
Ashford-Rumble Elementary has continually proven a small rural school can do great things. The highest ranked elementary school in Boone County and ranking in the top 10% in WV while achieving excellent scores on standardized testing shows that good things do come in small packages.
A significant decline in the coal industry thru 2016 thus reducing the tax base will likely lead to its closure in the future. This in itself is quite a shame considering its students leave this school better prepared to move into the secondary education phase than most other students and that trend will unfortunately not necessarily go with them in a consolidation or other school.
